idMI is growing, and is looking to add an Associate Designer to our team. We are looking for a high-energy team player to contribute to showroom furniture sales, interior design projects management and other general business coordination that is essential to creating an exceptional experience for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the idMI family of vendors and products, including materials, options, pricing, ordering and fulfillment processes. Become an expert on the lines we carry to be able to provide the best possible options to meet our clients’ needs
  • Furniture product sales. Engage with inbound customers asking questions to understand their needs and interests, guiding them to find the furniture and décor to meet their needs. This includes both selling products from the showroom floor, as well as coordinating special orders directly in collaboration with idMI’s manufacturers and partners
  • Contribute to interior design work from conception through completion of a client project. This includes:
    • Scheduling and project communication
    • Work estimates and budgeting
    • Preparing purchase proposals and client presentations
    • Design drawings
    • Material and furnishings selections and specifications
    • Contractor coordination and oversight
    • Site visits and inspections
  • Provide exceptional customer service across all channels: in-person, email, phone. Proactively greet customers entering the store, promptly and professional communicate to ensure the best possible experience with the idMI team
  • Manage the physical design library, consisting of design and furniture line books, fabrics, samples, etc. Ensure that all materials are organized, accessible and up-to-date
  • Maintain showroom floor to ensure appropriate inventory levels as well as a clean and professional display. This includes monitoring inventory, re-stocking from the warehouse or initiating new product orders as needed. This also includes regular cleaning and dusting to ensure the best possible presentation of all furniture and decor
  • Create content for business posts across Facebook and Instagram, publishing accordingly
  • Participate in occasional local networking and marketing events outside of the office/normal business hours

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree not required, but preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in interior design and/or furniture sales
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Google SketchUp or other 3D design programs essential
  • Ability to understand and draw floor plans as well as create design boards and client presentations
  • Basic Microsoft Word skills required. QuickBooks experience a plus.
  • Physical ability to lift minimum of 50 LBS and comfortable standing for long periods at a time

  • Excellent multitasker. Must be comfortable juggling multiple projects at once, and comfortable pausing work to attend to an incoming customer (and be able to pick back up where you left off)
  • Thoughtful and creative problem solver. Proactive nature, anticipating issues before they arise
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent communication working across all levels of an organization. This role will be working closely with high-end clients, reps, manufacturers, idMI management and must be comfortable and confident communicating across all channels
  • Open to work occasional Saturdays as part of their 5-day work week
